One of my favorite photos of all time. Photographed at Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in North Carolina. Some places are so special, they exceed expectations in every way. In a 2-day tour, I saw fifteen black bears, a bobcat catch an enormous snake, otters, beavers, tons of birds, and beautiful scenery in every direction. This was photographed on a peaceful sunrise walk on one of the refuge roads closed to vehicles.
